Staying active and maintaining your mobility is the best way to support overall health and wellness.
After experiencing severe back pain, ECH client and Independent Living Resident Colin decided it was time to find the right support to get back on his feet.
Colin’s goal was to stay mobile and as fit as possible to avoid having to use a walking frame to get around.
To help, Colin has been receiving physiotherapy, massage, podiatry services, and using the gym at the ECH Wellness Centre in Morphett Vale.
Along with his hard work, the ECH team are assisting Colin to maintain his physical health and mobility so he can continue to live his adventurous, social, and independent lifestyle.
Since he began receiving physiotherapy and massage services, Colin has reported his back has significantly improved, and he can now walk any distance easily without any pain.
“Although my back will never be fully cured, maintaining my regular physiotherapy and massage sessions has provided me with great relief and enabled me to continue my lifestyle,” says Colin.
With a busy social calendar, Colin enjoys getting together with his friends for regular ten-pin bowling sessions.
“Two years ago, I couldn’t have bowled if you paid me, but I’ve been able to bowl for 18 months now, and it doesn’t give me any discomfort whatsoever.”
Committed to bowling twice a week, having the strength and mobility to do so is important to Colin as it has become one of his favourite times of the week.
“Without my regular physiotherapy and massage appointments, I wouldn’t be able to do what I love.”
Colin has been going to the ECH Wellness Centre in Morphett Vale for almost two years and says he and the ECH team have become good friends.
“It is such a welcoming place and is extremely convenient for me. Whatever I need, the staff are always so helpful and warm.”
Colin lives in an ECH Independent Retirement Village and enjoys the convenience of having the Wellness Centre close by. He also gets a bit of help at home with ECH Home Services and regularly sees his ECH Dietitian.
“I’m very thankful that I moved into an ECH village. I couldn’t be happier and more content with my life.”
In his spare time Colin also enjoys going out for coffee, dinner and taking day trips with friends.
Through keeping up with his regular visits to the ECH Wellness Centre and enjoying a busy social life, Colin ensures he maintains his fitness and mobility, so he can continue doing what he loves.
