Exciting news – the Hydrotherapy pool at College Grove is now open!
The pool is heated between 28 and 35 degrees and offers the opportunity for advanced forms of therapy, this includes one-on-one sessions and group classes as well as the option for guided exercise where you can do your own workout routine with the help of a trained ECH Exercise Physiologist. There are lockers and showers also available by the pool.
The Benefits of Hydrotherapy
Hydrotherapy can help in several ways:
- The warm water allows muscles to relax and eases pain on joints
- The water supports your weight, which helps to relieve pain and increase range of movement in joints
- The water can be used to provide resistance, by pushing your arms and legs against the water so you can improve muscle strength
Aqua Aerobics classes are also available. ECH Program Change Manager Mandy Ross said Aqua Aerobics is a great way to stay fit and exercise with the added support of the water decreasing stress on joints.
“This style of therapy allows a range of movements that people may not be able to do outside of the pool, this can help to increase muscle strength and cardiovascular fitness.”
Trained ECH professionals can tailor a program to meet your needs and guide you through a variety of exercises.
